Our family’s patriarch, the late Omar Kamel Awad, initiated the Gallery’s journey in 1899 near the Damascus Citadel amidst one of the oldest bazaars in the world, The Hamidiya Souk.

Grandpa Omar grew as a well-reputed antiquarian known for his profound knowledge and passion for rare and historic collectibles. Omar’s lineage lives strong today, as his successors carries the legacy and extends the Gallery’s private curation to include paintings, contemporary objects and calligraphy masterpieces, expanding our reach to explore and curate collectibles that our world’s cultures has on offer.

From the warm Damascene corners, today, Awad Gallery brings the lure of the orient to three art spaces across London, Dubai and Istanbul.
